悪魔城ドラキュラ
Akumajou Dracula
"Demon Castle Dracula"

Akumajou Dracula is the FDS release of Castlevania.  The biggest change between this and the version released in the USA is that you can save your game to disk, alleviating some of the game's legendary difficulty.  Akumajou Dracula also has an unusual glitch in it that was fixed when it was brought to the United States.

Basically, you climb to the very top of the staircase until Simon is standing at the top.  Press down the instant you get up there, and then walk down the staircase to the screen below.  As soon as the screen scrolls, run back up the staircase.  Repeat this a few times, and Simon will eventually be able to keep walking upwards.

It's kind of neat to watch Simon hurry upwards without a staircase, but the real fun comes when you climb to the very top of the screen...

Simon's scaling a sheer brick wall!  And there are candles at the top of the screen, near your status indicators.  If you're wondering what's inside of them, it's just bags of money...  they fall down and off the screen if you break the candles.

Things get a bit glitchier up here, with the graphics starting to really garble.  If you decide to return the way you came, sometimes glitched-out bats will attack you.  Other times, the game will just crash.

This is about as high as you can go.  Simon's invisible unless he's attacking, and the entire game slows down.  The evil monster to the left doesn't move or do anything at all except for flicker excessively.  If you climb any higher, the game crashes...  and if you return to where you came from, the game crashes.  Oh well!
