![]() Zelda II - The Adventure of Link

| Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was
the much-anticipated sequel to the original Legend of Zelda. It eschewed
the original game's overhead action view and replaced it with
sidescrolling swordfighting scenes. Because of this, many people
either love or hate the game. I happen to be one of those who
love the game, and because of this I was delighted to find an unusual
trick you can perform to make Link "fall" through the top of the
screen, sometimes causing him to warp to a new location. |

Here's the easiest spot to try
this trick out, right outside the town of Darunia. Simply cast
the Jump spell, then switch to Fairy magic. Have Link hop up to
the very top of the screen, and then press select to cast the Fairy
spell. |
| Link is suddenly warped to a
falling sequence! It looks exactly the same as other falling
sequences in the game do. |

Huh. After that, Link just
kind of falls back down to where he was. Let's see if we can try
this glitch in Darunia. |
| This looks like a fine spot to
try the glitch! |

The same thing happens as
before, Link is warped to a falling sequence. This time, however,
he falls from the sky into a different part of town. |
| Walking around a bit, the town
becomes discolored and corrupted. Entering the doorway you fell
by makes things even worse. So, what happens when you leave the
town? |

If you leave the town, you end
up deposited in the middle of the ocean, unable to move. I'm sure
that there must be a way to use this glitch somewhere that can serve as
a shortcut to later parts of the game, but I haven't been able to find
out where. If you're playing Zelda 2, give the glitch a try and
see where it brings you! |
